Different by Design

With safety in mind, the Fastbraces® system was developed to straighten teeth differently - allowing for a fast, safe and affordable solution.

  • Fast
  • Safe
  • Easy

The Fastbraces® patented design uses a unique, triangular shaped braces that typically allows for just one orthodontic wire during the treatment.

Fastbraces® works on a different mechanical principle altogether Historically, braces would move the crown of the tooth in the first year, and the root of the tooth in the second year, thus requiring two years of treatment.

Fastbraces® are specifically designed to move the crown and root of the teeth at the same time, from the beginning of the treatment. Patients can now get results often with less sensitivity, in about a year, and in some instances, just a few months. Learn more about the science behind Fastbraces®

Why Are Teeth Crooked?

To understand how teeth are straightened with Fastbraces®, you must first understand why teeth are crooked. Teeth are crooked because they come in the mouth tilted, sideways and not upright in the position they need to be straight. This means that the root of a crooked tooth is not straight (upright) as it should be if the tooth erupts crooked. The triangular braces used at Fastbraces® aim to upright the root of the tooth from the beginning of the treatment. If the root is upright, then the tooth becomes straight.

In order to do this, a big enough square wire is needed to be inserted in the braces in order to torque and upright the root. The conventional braces are typically square in shape and don't provide for enough room between them (figure 1). If the square braces are replaced with triangular ones, the distance between the braces doubles (figure 2). By doubling the distance, the flexibility of the square wire increases eight times (23 = 8) Therefore, at Fastbraces® we are able to engage a square wire comfortably and easily between the braces in order to upright the root from the beginning of the treatment and complete treatment in about a year or as little as 3 months in some cases. The Research Agrees

The Fastbraces® System has undergone university research and testing to ensure safety and optimal performance for patients. Research confirmed the following key areas:

Ion-Implantation: Effect on Frictional Resistance to Movement, Master's Thesis by Micheal Robert Laferla, University of Southern California, 1996

Teeth Move Easily

The university research showed the lowest friction with Fastbraces® patented braces system.

Fastbraces® brackets having significantly the lowest mean frictional forces by 87% when compared to all other brackets in the study.

The Study of Orthodonic pain symptoms, PHD Thesis by Dr. M. Dalili, DDS, MSC Orthodontic Division Institute of Oral and Dental Diseases University of Kuopio, Finland, 1998

Lower Sensitivity

Research has shown "lower sensitivity" and greater "pain reduction" with Fastbraces®, "a clear-cut reduction in sliding friction" and "the lowest mean frictional forces" compared to the traditional braces tested.

[This] indicates greater pain reduction in the Fastbraces® systems, with fitting front and back teeth together being at a statistically significant level.

A Radiographic Comparison of Apical Root Resorption After Orthodonic Treatment with Three Different Fixed Applicance Techniques, Master's Thesis, Jasnson, G; Canto, G.L.; Freitas, M.R.; Henriques, J.F.C.; Pinzan, A.;Bauru Dental School, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Othopedics, USA, September Issue, 2000

Teeth are safe

Research has shown that the longer patients wear braces, the more root resorption (tooth root shortening) they have (American Journal of Orthodontics). University research in the same journal showed that Fastbraces® presented "even less root resorption" than the traditional systems tested. Fastbraces® believes this is due to the fact that it moves the whole tooth in one stage, and therefore patients don't stay in braces a long time.

There is less risk of root resorption with less time in braces.

Keeping teeth clean is easy with Fastbraces®

1. Clean Teeth & Gums

Fastbraces® patients should use a regular tooth brush with tooth paste for initial cleaning. Then, the bristle-brush works well for cleaning food that gets stuck under the wire and around the bracket. The bristle-brush is found at the other end of the regular tooth brush.

2. Floss Behind Wires

We call this "needle-and-thread". The patient should go under the wire and pull the floss through with the other hand and push it in between the teeth to remove any food that may have stuck between the teeth and gums and gently remove it.

3. Massage The Gums

The rubber end works well on massaging the gums. Keeping the gums clean will keep the teeth bacteria-free and help the treatment go smoother.

4. Wax Away Irritation

Use of wax will help the patient alleviate any irritation they may feel from the braces. The patient can just cut off a small piece of wax and apply it to the part of the bracket that is causing the irritation.

5. Check Your Work

The patient should use the mirror to see if they have cleaned the teeth and gums adequately.
